
1925
Born in St. Petersburg, Florida.1934-43 First art lessons at age nine; photography lessons at age eleven. Interest in photography continues throughout high school.
1943-46 During WWII, served as a photographer for the United States Navy.
1946-51 Studies art and photography at the University of Florida, University of Southern California, Chouinard Art Institute and the Art Center College of Design, achieving a Bachelor of Professional Art degree. Begins exhibiting work.
1952- Opens advertising photography studio in Los Angeles. Illustrative assignments for leading agency and corporate clients appear in Life, Look, Vogue, Time, and Newsweek including billboards, annual reports and TV commercials for accounts such as IBM, Xerox, Eastman Kodak, Ferrari, Toyota, etc.
1957
1958 Receives Master of Photography degree from Professional Photographers of America.
1966 Awarded Photographic Craftsmen degree.
1971 Awarded fellowship degree in Great Britain.
1972 Becomes President of the American Society of Photographers.
1990 Receives the National Award for lifetime achievements in photography.
